Current Role

I have a degree in Architecture and have been interested in design and communication for the last twenty years. I have been the PR/Marketing Manager at MJP Architects for the last 8 years - in fact since Jun 17 2001.

During this time my job has changed a bit, people have come and gone and things have evolved.

We are currently looking at the whole marketing mix including a second look at our brochure and PQQ response material, followed by a third upgrade of our website to include a new CMS. My current job description includes the following things:

Marketing

1. Coordinating our OJEU response - monitoring OJEC notices, digging out further info, assembling teams and compiling submissions, tracking and follow up

2. Maintaining up to date CVs, project pages, and practice information

3. Helping with competition entries, research, graphics etc

4. Preparing presentations

5. Tracking architectural/construction magazines for potential leads/projects/sites etc

6. Coordinating other marketing initiatives

PR

1. Dealing with day to day press enquiries, assembling press packs, liaising with clients and their press departments, organising PR meetings, updating press cuttings files/data base

2. Commissioning and coordinating photographic shoots of all completed buildings

In the past I have worked collaboratively with external PR consultants, Laura Iloniemi, Sam Price and Holistic. I have commissioned photographers Peter Durant, Tim Crocker and Marc Goodwin among others.

New Business

1. Organising, preparing for and meeting prospective clients/consultants/key stakeholders, attending new business meetings and actioning feedback

In the past I have worked collaboratively with an external new business consultant.

Graphics

1. I am involved in all graphics in the company - new work proposals, powerpoint presentations, exhibition boards and competition entries, brochure

2. updating and ordering practice stationery - business cards, comp. slips, headed letter paper, postcards

3. Coordinating our annual submission for the RA Summer Exhibition

Slide/Photographic/Image Library

I have digitised our photos to create an image bank, we are now migrating to image management software, Open Asset.

1. preparing powerpoint presentations

2. maintaining digital image bank (all photos, new projects, and non-mjp ref. Images) with careful attention to file types etc

3. maintaining audio visual equipment, preparing rooms equipment for presentations

Awards

1. Monitoring, compiling submissions (seeking permissions)

Web Site

1. I am responsible for keeping the website current with all that entails. I have been involved in two major redesigns.

We have a project/contact database that I help maintain.

Other Responsibilities

I have been working on the MJP monograph from inception to completion, due to be published imminently by Right Angle. We also published a book about our work in Coventry, entitled Phoenix ArtArchitectureRegeneration and published by Black Dog.

I monitor the pr/marketing budget and prioritise spend, and write a monthly board report. I have also given internal Powerpoint and Indesign Training.

As the company has grown and shrunk, I have stood in as temporary PA, manned the switchboard, opened the post, booked couriers - I like to help if I can.

1st thought

I have set up this blog to create an online CV for myself that I can use to help find a great job.

I've not done one of these before so please bear with me.
